Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has defeated the flag bearer of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku, in President Muhammadu Buhari’s polling unit in Daura, Katsina State.
President Buhari, his wife Aisha, their daughters and some members of the family and relations cast their votes in this Saturday’s presidential and national assembly elections at the Kofar Barau 003 Gidan Niyam Polling Unit, Sarkin Yara ‘A’ Ward, Daura, his hometown.
The result elections in the polling unit came shortly before 6.00pm. The voting process of the President and his wife at the poll was transmitted live via different media platforms to nationwide and global audience from the ancient city of Daura.
In the result declared by the presiding officer of the polling unit, APC presidential candidate polled 154 votes against 51 votes garnered by PDP standard bearer and 37 votes scored by their New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Musa Kwakwanso.
Similarly, the ruling party’s senatorial candidate with 215 votes, thrashed the candidates of the PDP with 51 votes and NNPP with four respectively in the senatorial race.
In the same breadth, the House of Representatives candidate on the platform of the APC in the federal constituency garnered 236 votes in the polling unit leaving the candidates of the PDP and NNPP with 25 votes and 44 votes apiece.
Meanwhile, this Saturday’s general elections witnessed an impressive turnout, especially of women and youths, across Katsina State, hence the exercise was still ongoing in several polling stations as at the time of this report.
