A hummer bus carrying 20 passengers on Malumfashi-Kafur Road was involved in an accident that resulted in the deaths of nine people with 11 others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
Aliyu Ma’aji, the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday in Katsina.
He attributed the accident which occurred in Malumfashi town to excessive speeding, which caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
He stated that “The FRSC, Katsina State Command announced to the general public of an ugly incident of road traffic crash at Malumfashi town, on Malumfashi-Kafur Road,
“It resulted in the death of nine people travelling in a Hummer bus carrying 20 people, 11 persons were rescued and now receiving treatment at a hospital for varying degrees of injuries.”
In his conclusion, he urged motorists to exercise caution during the festive period, warning against speeding, overloading, and reckless driving which may lead to loss of lives in spite of good roads.
