The Katsina State contingent has continued to perform well at the ongoing Northwest Zonal Elimination taking place at Murtala Square, Kaduna State.
The state’s women’s volleyball team has qualified for the 23rd National Sports Festival after defeating their counterparts from Sokoto, while the men’s team is eyeing a ticket for the national festival after winning against the Kaduna and Jigawa teams with scores of 3-0 respectively.
Similarly, the state hockey team whitewashed their counterparts from Kano with a score of 3-0, while the football team ended its match in a 1-1 draw with the Kaduna team.
On the other hand, the state basketball team was defeated by the Kano team.
The State Director of the Sports Council, Alhaji Abdu Bello, attributed the success achieved by the contingent so far to the contributions and support of the current administration led by Governor Radda for the sports sector.
