Cerebrospinal Meningitis, Lassa Fever and Cholera Outbreak, NOA Katsina Calls for Caution

The National Orientation Agency NOA Katsina State Office has organized integrated Public Enlightenment Campaign for the Prevention of Cerebrospinal Meningitis, Lassa Fever and Cholera in the state.

The Enlightenment Campaign held at the Primary Health Care Kofar Marusa was attended by officials of NOA, Health Personal and Traditional leaders in Katsina Metropolis.

Speaking at the event the state Director NOA, Alhaiji Muntari Lawal Tsagem said it became necessary for the Agency to organize the event considering the outbreak of such diseases in neighboring states in the country.

According to Alhaji Muntri Tsagem, health experts described the sign and symptoms of Lassa Fever to include headache, sore throat, back pain, chest pain , cough, general body pain, vomiting, fever, diarrhoea, stomach pain, swollen face, eye and neck as well as redness of the eye and other bleeding manifestation.

The state NOA Director advised that anyone that notices such sign and symptoms should go to the nearest heath care center immediately or call 6232.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, health expert, Alhaji Ibrahim Sogiji, spoke on the importance of community dialogue and data gathering in communities.

Alhaj Ibrahim Sogiji advised people to follow advice from health personel in order to have healthy society.

During the event, three papers were presented on health issues by different health professionals.
