The First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s says the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) will distribute 60,000 kits to midwives across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
Senator Tinubu stated this at the symbolic presentation of 10,000 professional kits to midwives in North Central zone comprising Niger, Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) held in Ilorin.
She said the effort is aimed to complement the Federal government ongoing retraining exercise of 120,000 Frontline health workers nationwide.
According to Senator Tinubu no fewer than 54,346 health workers have completed their training, adding that the Renewed Hope Initiative procured 60,000 kits as an incentive to encourage and support the tireless dedication of the midwives.
She explained that all the six geopolitical zones will receive 10,000 Crocs and 10,000 scrubs to be shared among the states in each zone.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu noted that the team would visit other zones as soon as possible for the distribution of the items.
Earlier in his address , the Governor of Kwara state , AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq said the initiative will have lasting impact on the safety and confidence of the health professionals who are frontline workers in the fight for better healthcare delivery.
He said the gesture by the first lady is a clear reflection of her commitment to the welfare and safety of the citizens.
Governor AbdulRazaq said the provision of the kits will ensure health workers are well equipped to perform their duties and send strong message of solidarity to those that are devoted in protecting the health of our mothers and children.”
In her remarks, the North Central Zonal Coordinator, Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI )and wife of Kwara state Governor Olufolake AbdulRazaq said the initiative, championed by the First lady exemplifies her commitment to the welfare and professionalism of midwives across the country.
She said the generous support of providing 10,000 professional kits will empower midwives in the North Central zone with the motivation to deliver quality and compassionate care to mothers and new-borns.
