On 24th December 2024, at about 2030 hrs, suspected bandits attacked a commercial vehicle at Kwanar Makera along the Katsina to Magama Jibia road in Jibia LGA, Katsina State attempting to kidnap the 10 occupants while firing sporadically.
The police spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, said: “Upon receipt of the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Jibia, swiftly led a team of operatives to the scene, engaging the bandits in a gun duel, successfully foiled the kidnap attempt and rescued all the 10 victims.”
Four victims sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to hospital, two victims died after succumbing to gunshot wounds sustained during the rescue operation by the Katsina State Police Command.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, as investigations continue.
“The Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers’ gallantry and urged the public to report criminal activities to the nearest police station.”
