Kwara Female Lawmaker Empowers 1,200 Artisans, Widows

Over one thousand(1,200) widows and artisans have been empowered with capital and working tools by member representing Ilorin South Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Maryam Aladi, to make them self reliant.

She also assisted widows with foodstuff to support the family.

Speaking at the presentation of the empowerment items to the beneficiaries in Ilọrin, Hon. Maryam Aladi said it was a great honor for her working tirelessly to make positive changes in her constituency.

She appreciated the people of her constituency for their trust, support, and collaboration.

According to her the empowerment serves as a testament to the collective achievements and the progress made in different areas which included, infrastructure development, healthcare initiatives, economic empowerment programmes, educational advancements, and legislative contributions as well as community engagement.

Aladi explained that the journey has been marked by dedication, resilience and unwaivering commitment to the betterment of the constituency.

She said the exemplary leadership being offered the state by the governor inspired her to initiate the empowerment.

In his remarks the Kwara state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) , Prince Sunday Fagbemi hailed the initiator of the empowerment for prioritising the welfare and wellbeing of her constituents, including the artisans and widows.

He urged her to continue to attend to the needs of her constituents.

The guest lecturer and senior special assistant on Community Engagement, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, said if political office holders prioritise the wellbeing of the people the society will be better.

He warned the beneficiaries against selling off the items given to them, adding that they should make judicious utilization of the items for the betterment of their families.

The colourful ceremony attended by the representative of the First Lady of Kwara State, Amb. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, deputy speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Ojo Olayiwola, state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Sunday Fagbemi, APC women leader in Kwara Central, Alhaja Tawa Agaka, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon . AbdulGaniyu Cook – Olododo and adviser on Party Affairs, Hon. Mashood- Alaka, was tagged “Hon. Maryam Yusuf Aladi Widows Support and Artisan Support Programme” .

Items distributed to artisans include hairdryer, grinding machines, freezers, sewing machine, welding machine, generating set, catering equipment and barbing clippers among others.
