Katsina State government has emphasised the importance of empowerment program towards conflict mitigation to ensure sustainable peace and development.
Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda stated this during distribution of empowerment program to 100 youth and women selected from four security prone local government areas provided by the Centre for Democracy Development CDD.
Governor Malam Dikko Radda who was represented by the commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar Yar’adua, congratulated the beneficiaries for being among those approved to benefit from the empowerment program.
Hajiya Hadiza Yar’adua urged the beneficiaries to utilize the gesture judiciously for the development of the socioeconomic well being of their areas.
Speaking on behalf of the Center for Democracy and Development CDD, Mr. David said the empowerment program is part of the humanitarian services from the Center.
Mr. David explained that the 100 beneficiaries were drawn from Batsari, Danmusa, Jibia and Kankara Local Government Areas to enable them to be self employed.
In an interview with some of the beneficiaries, they expressed gratitude to CDD over the gesture and assure to use the items judiciously.
The empowerment materials include grinding and pumping machines, sewing machines, farm inputs, welding and carpentry tools among others.
