Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, on its social media handle has released an email and phone number to call whenever any distribution companies ask customers to buy transformers, poles or cables.
In a statement shared alongside a video on X, NERC emphasised that consumers should not be coerced into purchasing transformers, cables, or poles, as this responsibility lies squarely with the distribution companies.
The statement reads “Is your distribution company expecting you to buy transformers, cables or poles? A dedicated email and phone number have been set-up to address these issues; idn@nerc.gov.ng and 07074865354 respectively.
“Report any coercion to purchase, or delays in providing these materials to NERC for prompt action.
“For all other complaints, please use the NERC Call Centre. Call 02013444331 or 09088999244 or send an email to complaints@nerc.gov.ng.”
Katsina mirror earlier reported how KEDCO shortchange customers, risk customers lives and display inefficiency in serving their customers.
This new development will give customers the opportunity to report inefficiency and corruption among KEDCO officials who try to exploit customers and take undue advantage.
NERC as a regulatory body must also take precautions so that their staffs are not compromised because it is one thing to report and it is another thing for action to be taken.
