Katsina state executive council has approved the release of over sixteen point seven billion naira for the procurement of twenty thousand metric tons of fertilizer to farmers in the state.
The approval is part of preparations for 2024 cropping season.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Professor Ahmed Mohamed Bakori made the announcement at a press briefing in Katsina after the state executive meeting presided over by Governor Dikko Radda.
He said the fertilizer consists of six thousand tons of urea, eight thousand tons of NPK Fifteen –fifteen and six thousand tons of NPK Twenty -ten-ten.
The Commissioner said procurement of the item would commence immediately.
In the meantime the state is to award another contract worth over one point four Billion naira for the construction of a road from Galadunci to the residence of late General Hassan Usman katsina behind CPS katsina in the metropolis.
The state commissioner of works, housing and transport, Engineer Sani Magaji Ingawa told newsmen after the council meeting that, the road project include installation of street lights among others.
In another development, katsina state executive council has approved the release of over six point two billion naira for the settlement liabilities to the contractors and consultants handling various projects approved by the immediate past administration.
This is to mobilize them to sites to continue with the work.
The Commissioner told journalists that the settlement is for twenty four roads across the state.
