In what is seen as another stern warning against any form of financial fraud, Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State, yesterday declared his commitment to plug all avenues to leakages of public funds as he steers the affairs of the state.
He issued the warning at the 2023 Annual Retreat of the Katsina State Development Fund, otherwise known as ‘Gidauniyar Jihar Katsina.’
Governor Radda, while speaking at the event held in Presidential Banquet Hall of Katsina State Government, which had in attendance, former President Muhammad Buhari, the erstwhile pioneer Chairman of the Development Funds, vowed to entrench accountability and transparency in the service of Katsina State people.
The Governor, in a statement by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, lauded the annual retreat of the development foundation for promoting intellectual discussions on how to accelerate the development of the state.
He pledged his administration’s desire to work with the founation as part of making Katsina a socio -economic hub.
He further explained that the state government has developed strategic policies to confront challenges facing the state in the area of security, agriculture and youth restiveness, among others.
“This retreat has always been in the forefront of canvassing better ideas for various Katsina State Governments, in order to make life better for our people,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.
In his speech at the retreat, Buhari, maintained that the importance of the foundation in the state could not be overemphasized, saying it plays a vital role in enhancing security and promoting social coalition across the State.
The Gidauniya, he said, has contributed immensely to the wellbeing of Katsina people and the State’s development.
In a keynote address, Chairman of the Gidauniya, Dr. Umar Abdu Mutallab, called for the injection of youths into the association for its sustainability.
