Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has pledged to bring a new approach to bear on the governance of the state and give his best in running its affairs to deliver on his mandate. He gave the assurance shortly after being sworn-in alongside his deputy, Hon. Faruk Lawal Jobe, by the state Chief Judge, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar, at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium Katsina on Monday.
The governor asserted that possible changes in revenue and land administration in the state would be introduced, stressing that his government will introduce Treasury Single Account (TSA), conduct staff
audit and encourage whistle blowing in the state public service. He also promised to establish Katsina State Development Board to fast track its growth and warned that he would not hesitate to change any
member of his cabinet that would not deliver on his or her mandate, saying: “Actions will have consequences and people must discard all habits that breed criminality.”
According to him, security issues would remain paramount under his administration and all resources would be deployed to combat insecurity in the state.
Gov Radda, who read riot act to bandits and other criminal elements in parts of the state to shun crime or face the wrath of the law, assured that terror victims would receive support to ameliorate their hardships.
He said: “Administrative reforms will be extended to local governments in the state to ensure that they can deliver on their mandates to communities and the general populace.”
The governor however paid tribute to his predecessor, Aminu Bello Masari, and former President Muhammadu Buhari and welcomed any support they could render to his administration as he pledged to partner with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other governors to achieve their collective goals, especially in the area of security challenges.
The swearing-in ceremony had in attendance the immediate past state governor, Aminu Bello Masari; two other former governors: Alhaji Saidu Barda and Barr. Ibrahim Shehu Shema; Katsina-born ex-governors of old Kaduna and Borno States respectively Alhaji Abba Musa Rimi and retired Col. Abdulmumini Aminu, and the Prefect of Maradi, Niger Republic, Shuaibu Abubakar, among others dignitaries.
