*Formation of unity government, completion of fed projects top list
With 85 days to go before President Muhammadu Buhari hands over to President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a cross section of Katsina civil society organizations has outlined what Tinubu must do if he wants to make the needed impact.
The Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Katsina Youths Enlightenment, Muhammad Danjuma Katsina, who made the disclosure in Katsina on Sunday at a world press conference organized by the group in collaboration with select civil society organizations in the state on 2023 elections, tasked Tinubu to form an all-inclusive government of national unity.
Assuring that listening to the voices from wide spectrum will also rally well-meaning individuals from other political parties round the in-coming President, Danjuma Katsina called on him to assemble a committee of experts to bring an end to the economic and financial predicaments facing Nigeria.
In the resolutions of the groups read on behalf of the Danjuma Katsina by Dr, Sani Abdul Fari, he added: “Citizens are being decimated by the menace of banditry and terrorism; we hope to see a clear blueprint on how to bring it to an immediate and definite end.
“We wish to request His Excellency, Bola Tinubu, to make a wide consultation in picking who will represent Katsina State in his cabinet, so that the best Katsina citizen with clear interest in building people and the state will be selected.
“We also want the incoming administration to ensure the completion of all federal projects in Katsina State started by the out-going administration.
“We also make mention of the rail project from Kano to Maradi in Niger Republic through Katsina State, the completion of Kano –Katsina Federal Highway, the construction of 75MW solar plant at Lambar-Rimi, KEDCO booster station in Katsina, School of Nursing and Midwifery in Malumfashi and the proposed Funtua University of Agriculture.”
Speaking on March 11, 2023, governorship and state assembly elections, he declared their fervent hope that security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would ensure peaceful, credible, free and fair polls.
