The Women Initiative for Northern Nigerian Development WINNDEV has unveiled Neighborhood Committee Network, NCN, in the state.
The Chairperson of WINNDEV, Hajiya Zainab Muhammad Sada disclosed during a Press Briefing held at the conference hall of NUJ Secretariat Katsina.
Hajiya Zainab Muhammad explained that the NCN is a grassroots movement that seek to empower neighborhoods at various communities and villages as part of efforts aimed at enabling communities take ownership of their developments, safety and well being.
The Chairperson said the establishment of a network of community led commitees was aimed at creating a platform for the citizens to come together, share ideas, and work collectively towards common goals.
She added that NCN is also expected to focus on community development, safety, security, social cohesion and environmental growth.
Hajiya Zainab added that they plan to establish a national secretariat to develop a robust training program, foster partnership with governmental agencies, NGOs and private sector organizations.
She said their goals is to build stronger and more resilient communities that were better equipped to withstand challenges and seize opportunities at any given time.
