In a recent meeting with the representatives of some pension unions, the executive secretary of Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Tolulope Odunaiya, assured pensioners that the N32,000:00 pension increment will be paid as soon as the funds in the 2025 budgetary provisions are released.
At the meeting with the Executive Secretary were Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (ARPON), National Association of Retired Paramilitary Officers (NARPO) and the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (All sectorial units/parastatals).
According to the union representatives, they were at the PTAD Headquarters in Abuja on a courtesy call to the executive secretary.
Speaking of behalf of ARPON, the national president, AIG Paul Ochonu (Rtd.) commended PTAD for the innovative, ‘I Am Alive Confirmation Solution’ which allow members to confirm they are alive from the comfort of their homes without the need to travel far for physical verification.
Other representatives made positive remarks about the management of their pensions by PTAD as well as other services they have received from the directorate since it’s establishment.
They asked for more collaborative efforts between PTAD and Pension unions in addressing issues affecting retirees such as harmonization of pension, issues with the back-end computation of pensions, the payment of the N32,000:00 pension increment and other outstanding arrears.
The Executive Secretary thanked the pension unions for their visit and understanding promising them that the directorate will continue in its efforts to collaborate closely with all relevant stakeholders in resolving the issues raised and ensure the well being of pensioners is prioritized.
