The Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning in Katsina State has convened a stakeholders’ meeting to review the master plans of Katsina, Daura, and Funtua.
The meeting, held at the Conference Hall of the state secretariat, brought together officials from various ministries, traditional and religious leaders, media organizations, security agencies, and land vendors.
Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Dr. Faisal Umar Kaita, revealed that Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda has directed the modernization of seven cities in the state, starting with Katsina, Funtua, and Daura.
He said the move is in response to the state’s growing population, which necessitates expansion and provision of essential amenities such as clean water, electricity, schools, and hospitals.
Dr. Kaita emphasized the crucial role stakeholders play in reviewing the master plans, ensuring that the needs and concerns of all parties are addressed.
The consultant firm leading the project, comprising DPIE, Associates, Redarc Consultancy, LTD, and Mphasis Consulting, were represented by Dr. Yakubu Bununu.
He highlighted the significance of the meeting in informing stakeholders about their roles in the review process.
The meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to contribute and share their insights, marking a significant step towards the successful review and implementation of the master plans.
