The Katsina Police Command has foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued 13 victims.
The Command spokesman, DSP Aliyu Abubakar confirmed the development on Friday in a statement.
He explained that on February 6th, 2025, at about (0143 hrs) ( 1.43 a.m), operatives of the command received a distress call at Sabuwa Divisional Police Headquarters that a group of suspected bandits armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, shooting sporadically, attacked Maibakko village, Sabuwa LGA, kidnapping residents.
He added “Swiftly, operatives responded to the scene where a fierce gun battle ensued, resulting in the foiling of the kidnap attempt and successful rescue 13 victims.
“Unfortunately, the bandits shot and killed 2 persons and injured one.
“The rescued victims, who were shaken but unharmed, have been reunited with their families.
“Efforts are being intensified to ensure the unhurt rescue of the other victims and arrest of the perpetrators.
“The command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and will continue to work tirelessly to prevent and combat crime and to bring those who engage in criminal activities to justice.”
