Kwara Residents Urge To Support Govt To Develop The State

Residents of Kwara state have been urged to support government initiative to transform the state and make it economically viable.

The state commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Afees Abolore made the call at a maiden public lecture in commemoration of 65th birthday of governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, themed “Legacy of leadership :-Examining the long term Impact of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Governance on Kwarans” organised by NUJ ,Kwara state Council, held in Ilorin.

He said the urban renewal and infrastructural development in the state is unprecedented.

Dr Abolore advised people of the state to take advantage of the adoption of inclusiveness initiative of the government to contribute their own quota to the development of the state.

He said the initiative has been able to provide the residents of the state the opportunity to take ownership of projects site in their communities.

The commissioner explained that the state governor has been able to fix the infrastructural deficit inherited in the state.

He said a stronger foundation has been put in place to take care of the present and make the future prosperous for the residents.

Dr. Abolore noted that despite huge debt inherited and the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic the economic fortune in the state has been stabilised.

In his remark the Chairman of the occasion, former Dean Postgraduate school University of Ilorin, Professor Yusuf Badmas represented by Dr.Abdulhamid Badmas commended the exemplary leadership provided by the state governor.

He urged the state government to do more projects in schools to promote educational development in the state.

For his part the Chief press Secretary to Kwara state governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye said the gathering has shown the impact of the inclusive governance initiative adopted by the state governor.

He assured the residents of the state of the determination of the state government to do better things in the state.

Earlier in his address the Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara state Council, Mallam Ahmed Abdullateef said the purpose of the lecture is to ginger wealthy residents of the state to support the government in providing and maintaining projects in their communities.

He said the development experienced in the state is unprecedented, adding that the governor has contributed greatly in meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state.
