Miyetti Allah Chairman’s death: Police launch manhunt for suspects

Operatives of Katsina police command have commenced investigation into last Saturday incident at Mairana village , kusada local government area of Katsina State which led to the death of Surajo Rufai, the Chairman of Miyetti Allah.

A statement by the Command’s  spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu made available to journalists in katsina on Sunday  confirmed the development. 

The statement read  “On January 4th, 2025, at about 1130 a.m, suspected armed bandits invaded the residence of Surajo Rufai, the Chairman of Miyetti Allah, situated at Mairana village, Kusada LGA, Katsina State, shooting him and kidnapping his wife and daughter.

“Upon receipt of the report, promptly, police operatives led by the DPO Kusada responded to the scene, and immediately the victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was regrettably confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

“A gun duel ensued when the operatives tracked the assailants to Kofa village, forcing the bandits to flee due to the operatives’ superior firepower.

“Unfortunately, two (2) persons were fatally shot by the bandits during their escape.

“Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects.

” Further development will be communicated as the investigation proceeds.”
