Katsina police rescue 319 kidnapped victims, kill 49 bandits , recover arms,ammunition as it continues fight against crimes

No fewer than 319 kidnapped victims have been rescued from bandits and kidnappers by operatives of the Katsina police command.

The victims who were kidnapped in various parts of the state have been reunited with their families.

The Command spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development on Thursday  while giving details of its  achievements on the outgone 2024.

Aliyu who addressed a press conference on behalf of the state police commissioner, Aliyu Musa equally revealed that the command was able to burst crimes in the state in 2024, due to the support if the Inspector General of Police,Kayode Egbedokun, Governor Dikko  Radda  and people of the state as well as  the commitment of the officer and staff of the command.

He warned recalcitrant criminals to either leave the state or be ready to face consequences under Nigeria law.

Aliyu revealed  that the command’s operatives also arrested 81 suspected cattle rustlers  and  recovered 2081 rustled cattle.

The operatives, he also revealed, arrested 199 suspected armed robbers,over 100 suspected rapists and sodomists; 23 major drug dealers and 32 suspected vandals who had all been charged to court.

The command , according to him, through its operatives, also arrested 89 suspected motor vehicle thieves and recovered no fewer than 27 vehicles in the year (2024).

Aliyu further revealed that the command operatives arrested 573 suspects for various offences which ranged from criminal force, intimidation to breach of trust.

The Command’s spokesman gave further details on its achievements in 2024 thus “

The period under review has been demanding for the command; however, against all odds, the command accomplished notable success in combating the threat of banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and activities of the social miscreants, among other forms of crime and criminality in the state.

” We have rescued over 319 victims from the clutches of kidnappers and bandits, reuniting them with their families and loved ones. 

“We have neutralized 40 bandits, disrupting their operations and making our communities safer. 

” We have arrested 81 suspected cattle rustlers and recovered 2,081 rustled animals, returning them to their rightful owners and boosting the local economy. 

“We have arrested 199 suspected armed robbers, taking them off the streets and making our communities more secure.

“We have arrested over 100 suspected rapist and sodomists

“We have also charged 23 major drug dealers to court, disrupting the supply of illicit substances and promoting a safer, healthier society. 

” We’ve successfully arrested and prosecuted 32 suspected vandals, ensuring that those who seek to destroy our community’s property are brought to justice. 

“Our diligent work has also led to the arrest of 89 suspected motor vehicle thieves and the recovery of over 27 motor vehicles and motorcycles, making our roads safer for everyone. 

” Furthermore, we’ve apprehended 573 suspects for various offences, including criminal force, intimidation, and breach of trust, demonstrating our commitment to tackling all forms of crime.”

ASP Abubakar also revealed the discoveries made by the command in 2024 thus” We have also succeeded in recovering the following exhibits:

Four (4) AK 47;

 Thirteen (13) Locally made guns;

 One (1) pump action gun;

 Seventeen (17) AK 47 magazines; Seven hundred and forty (740) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition;

 Pairs of Military/Police Uniforms;

Ten (10) Suspected stolen motor vehicles and over ten (10) motorcycles,

  A quantum of suspected vandalized electric armored cables;

 Over ten (10) suspected stolen Mobile Phones;

 Machetes and Sharp knives,

 Bundles of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp;

 A quantum of illicit drugs.”

The Command’s spokesman assured Katsina residents of the readiness of its operatives to tackle Crimea in the state.

He requested the cooperation of residents with the command in the efforts to tackle crimes.

Aliyu further said ” I would like to acknowledge and appreciate members of the press, our partners in progress, for your enormous cooperation and partnership with the command. You have genuinely and passionately exhibited fraternity and collaboration towards consolidating the relative peace and security in the state through your fair and balanced reportage of the command activities. The fight against crime and criminality is so dynamic and demanding, but I urge you to continue to project the hard work and good work of the command and other security agencies to the general public.

Finally, let me also use this opportunity to thank the good people of the state for their unflinching support, understanding, and cooperation to the command. I wish to also call on the maximum support of all and sundry in the aid of security agencies in the state, as we cannot do it alone. “
