The Special Assistant to the state Governor on Public Enlightenment, Alhaji Sabo Musa, has emphasized the pivotal role Late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua played in shaping Nigeria’s democracy.
Sabo Musa was speaking in a public lecture organized by the Muryar Talaka Awareness Initiative Katsina State Chapter, held in Katsina.
The event was aimed to commemorate Yar’Adua’s contributions to the country’s democratic development.
Alhaji Sabo Musa stressed that Yar’Adua’s impact on Nigerian democracy is undeniable, stating that “no history of Nigeria’s democracy can be written without mentioning the name of Shehu Yar’Adua.”
He advocated for the inclusion of Yar’Adua’s history in the country’s educational curriculum, ensuring that future generations understand and appreciate his legacy.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Katsina State Council, Comrade Tukur Hassan Dan-Ali, and Member Representing Rimi-Charanchi-Batagarawa, represented by Dr. Muhammad Haruna Tsagero, expressed their gratitude to the organizers for their foresight in hosting the event.
National Secretary of Muryar Talaka, Comrade Bashir Dauda Sabuwar Unguwa, highlighted the significance of the event in showcasing Yar’Adua’s struggles and contributions to Nigeria’s democracy, from the grassroots level to the national stage.
Late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua was a renowned Nigerian general and politician who served as the de facto Vice President of Nigeria from 1976 to 1979.
His leadership and vision played a crucial role in shaping the country’s democratic landscape.
