Katsina State Government as part of the promise made to Katsina people has unveiled plans to complete 10MW Wind Farm in Lamba Rimi after nearly two decades of neglect due to funding and security issues that brought the project to a halt.
The State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, accompanied by the Special Adviser on Power and Energy, Dr. Hafiz Ibrahim Ahmed made this known during a meeting with Vergnet Groupe — the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS) in Paris, France.
While issuing a statement on Sunday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Mohammed, said Radda assured that his administration was committed to working closely with Vergnet Groupe to rehabilitate the asset and restore its capacity to support the state’s growing energy needs.
He explained that, “The Governor included plans for a 10MW Solar Farm to complement the wind project. This will provide clean and renewable energy to power approximately to 4,400 homes across Katsina State.
“These projects are integral to Katsina State’s vision to become a leading renewable energy hub in Nigeria and contribute to the country’s broader transition to a sustainable energy future.”
Governor Radda states further that his administration remains dedicated to ensuring its sustainable operation in line with Nigeria’s Renewable Energy Master Plan and the 2060 net-zero goals.
