Katsina Community Watch Corps (CWC), Charanchi command, has in a coordinated operation apprehended one of those responsible for the killing of Alhaji Sanusi Ango Gyaza, an aide to the Katsina State Governor, and his wife in Gyaza, Kankia Local Government Area.
According to a trending video posted online by an X user, where a man named Musa gives a confessional statement in Hausa dialect explaining how they carried out the operation and his own involvement, he explained that he and his gang had been involved in the heinous attack in the area for a while before his arrest.
In August, Alhaji Sanusi Ango Gyaza, an aide to the Katsina State Governor and former Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Chairman, in Gyaza, Kankia LGA was attacked at his residence and killed along with one of his wives while the other wife was whisked away by the assailant.
In the video the man confessed, “My name is Musa. I was arrested for kidnapping in Gyaza along with Torla, Ibrahim, and Mallam Harisu.
“It was Torla who told us to come and kidnap Alhaji Sanusi Ango Gyaza, saying he was working with the state governor and had money. When we invaded his residence, his wife started shouting and making calls for help, which is why we shot and killed her.
“We tried to kidnap Alhaji Sanusi Ango Gyaza and told him to walk, but he refused. Torla ordered that we shoot him, and that’s how we killed him. Meanwhile, Torla took the second wife of Alhaji Sanusi Ango Gyaza on a bike and went away with her.
“From there, we dispersed, and I went home with six guns. I was holding an AK-47, and they ordered me to kill him, but I told them that I could not kill my fellow Muslim brother.”
“They took her into the forest, and when they collected the ransom, I was not given a dime from it.”
He said they also went to Jakiri to kidnap, but they were chased away by the security operatives.
“I was only given N20,000 after we kidnapped a man.
“I’m begging you to have mercy on me. After this, if you see me involved in any crime again, just kill me,” the suspect begged.
Reporters contacted Katsina Police Command spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu to ascertain the authenticity of the video and the confessions made by Musa, but he said, “I will get back to you.”
