A Non governmental Organization known as Yiaga Africa, has established the Not too Young to Run Hub at the Federal University Dutse on Tuesday at the campus Auditorium in Dutse, Jigawa state.
At the establishment function of the hub, a representative of the organization, Mrs Anthonia Onda explained that the decision to select FUD to be a hub, was their performance at a youths debate recently held in Abuja.
Mrs Onda, commended the efforts of the students Union government of FUD for coordinating the students to perform wonderfully at the debate, saying that they could become quality leaders.
According to her, the establishment of the hubs is expected to guide the youths into active participation in politics and modify them for quality and good governance.
Mrs Anthonia also highlighted that Yiaga Africa has a mandate of building the capacity and interest of the young people, into equal participation in democracy and politics through establishing hubs.
In a presentation, Ibrahim Farouk, a facilitator, explained the concept of the not too young to run movement and its objectives, saying that it allows participation of youths in democracy.
He explained the goals of the Not too Young to run movement, which he said involves solidarity, patriotism, responsibility, inclusion and trust.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Mr Sani Sabo, the Students Electoral Officer FUD, commended Yiaga Africa for endorsing FUD to establish a hub.
He lauded finding the students worthy for inclusion in the movement, saying that they shall do their best to meet up expectation.
According to Sabo, the University management has given consent to the movement, saying that they will support the students to establish and run the hub successfully.
He assured the Yiaga Africa team that the Student union government will organise an election of quality leaders to steer the hub soonest.
Yiaga Africa, is a front line non-profit organisation promoting participatory democracy, human rights and civic participation.
It is establishing Not too Young to run hubs in many parts of the country to assist and engage the young people in utilising the Not too Young to Run movement.
