Demonstrators assembled to honour the memory of those who lost their lives during the #EndSARS protests against police brutality in October 20, 2020 at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos on Sunday but Lagos State Police Commissioner, Olanrewaju Ishola, said the protesters did not write, seeking police clearance and permission before embarking on the demonstration, therefore he declared it illegal.

“Constitutionally, they should write to me as the Commissioner of Police of their intention to do so, they did not write to us and as such, any of such gathering is illegal and by extension, no police will allow it to happen,” the State Police Commissioner, Olanrewaju Ishola said.

He explained that while Police authorities is aware of the constitutional rights of citizens, the law of the land must be considered above every other things.

The demonstrators gathered at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos but eyewitness alleged that the police disperse them while several demonstrators fled for safety, at least two persons were arrested.

There are questions to ask here
    1. We’re these people part of the #endsars of 2020?
    2. Are they doing this in memory of those who died in 2020 or just trying to get recognized?
Wel, we don’t really understand and that’s why we are asking.
