A Katsina Corps Member, Hafsat Abdulhamid Abdul Salam with State Code KT/24A/0255, rehabilitated a bore hole to provide potable water for the people of Dandagoro Community in Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The rehabilitation is part of her Personal Community Development Service (CDS).
The Corps Member revealed that the Community has been suffering for water in the last two years since the existing bore holes provided for them by the government broke down.
She said three bole holes that were functioning in the community which were providing water to two other close by communities became bad and members of the entire Dandagoro and it’s adjourning communities were thrown into suffering.
Hafsat added that the people trek a long distance to get drinking water.
She said because of lack of good drinking water, some children in the community were already suffering some water borne diseases.
The Corps Member however thanked the Batagarawa Local government Chairman Bala Garba Tsanni for his magnanimity and ever ready disposition to provide solution to the problem affecting people in the council.
Hafsat said the Chairman did not waste time to give support to the project when he saw her proposal.
She called on other local government Chairmen to emulate the Batagarawa Local Government Chairman.
A Community leader, Alhaji Mukta Magaji said his people had suffered and passed through untold hardships to get good drinking water, adding that there had not been any solution to the challenge in the last two years.
He thanked the Corps Member and the NYSC for its CDS cardinal programme.
Alhaji Magaji gave kudos to the council Chairman for his good administrative mechanism in handling issues affecting the people whenever such was brought to his knowledge.
The community head prayed for the Corps Member, the NYSC and Nigeria in general, thanking God for answering their prayer at last using the Corps Member
Commissioning the Project on Thursday 26th September, 2024, the NYSC Katsina State Coordinator Alhaji Ibrahim Saidu commended the Corps Member for her ingenuity to carry out the project
Alhaji Ibrahim called on all stakeholders to invest in the Corps Members in their communities by supporting and sponsoring projects for them ,stressing that the projects executed by Corps Members belong to the communities and will remain there even after they ( the corps members) had completed their service.
He encouraged the Batagarawa Local Government Chairman not to relent in his good work.
In attendance at the event were the Chairman Batagarawa Local government Area, the District head of Dandagoro Alhaji Mukta Magajji, the NYSC KATSINA State Coordinator, Corps Members and Dandagoro Community Members and members of the public.
