The Muryar Talaka Awareness Initiative has organized round table discussion as part of activities marking the International Peace Day.
The event which held in Katsina was attended by representatives of youth groups, students, security agencies, and civil society organizations.
In a welcome address the National Secretary Muryar Talaka Awareness Initiative, Comrade Bashir Dauda Sabuwar Unguwa, called on the government at all levels to be transparent and accountable of their security expenditure.
Comrade Bashir Dauda added that in order to promote sustainable peace and development, the three tiers of governments must invest heavily in youth development.
Also Speaking at the event the State Chairman Miyatti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhaji Hassan Kuraye appreciated Federal and State governments for promoting peace among the society.
In his contribution, Comrade Bishir Umar Sullubawa advocated to include peace conflict resolution from primary education, while Yahaya Sa’idu Lugga appealed to government to intensify the fight against drug abuse in the society.
Others participants appealed for special prayers seeking divine intervention against insurgents, kidnappers, bandits, etc. to be intensified by all and sundry. Also the security troops, including vigilantes and the Community Watch Corps (CWC) should respect human rights in the course of discharging their duties and the governments at all levels should ensure judicious utilisation of security funds, including security votes.
