All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates have been declared winners in chairmanship and Councillors elections that took place across the sixteen local government areas of Kwara state.
Announcing the results of the elections, the Chairman, Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission, KWASIEC, Alhaji Mohammed Baba-Okanla expressed joy over the peaceful conduct of the election.
He said the electoral and returning officers had filed their results in line with the provisions of the law.
Alhaji Baba-Okanla explained that candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) secured the sixteen (16) chairmanship seats and one hundred and ninety-three (193) councillorship seats.
He thanked members of the political parties, electorates and other stakeholders for their peaceful conduct during the elections.
The five political parties that participated in the local government elections included Accord Party, APC, APM, PDP and SDP.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up around the Kwara state Independent Electoral Commisssion (KWASIEC) office on Fate road in Ilorin to prevent breakdown of law and order by those expressing their displeasure over the outcome of the elections.
The protesters alleged that the result of the elections were manipulated in favour of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
