Workshop organised by the Youth Participation in Progressive Development Initiative

A capacity building workshop has been conducted for the Maiden Board of the Katsina State Fiscal Responsibility Commission to understand their role and responsibilities.

The training, was organised by the Youth Participation in Progressive Development Initiative, in partnership with the State Fiscal Responsibility Commission and Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room.

The one day retreat was attended by members of the State House of Assembly, State Commissioners for Budget and Finance, permanent secretaries and officials from the state revenue generating agencies and members of the State Fiscal Responsibility Commission alongside members of the Civil Society Organizations in the State.

In his address during the training, the Executive Director, Youth Participation in Progressive Development Initiative, Dr. Kamaluddeen Kabir recalled that, the law establishing the Katsina Fiscal Responsibility Commission recently been inaugurated by Governor Dikko Radda, has been there since 2007.

On his part, the Progam Officer of the Youth Participation in Progressive Development Initiative, Yahaya Sa’idu Lugga, thanked the state government for the commitment in coming up with the commission.

He expressed confidence that, the knowledge gathered by the participants attending the workshop will be effectively applied in the course of their duties. 

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Katsina State Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Abdullahi Imam, represented by the Commission’s Permanent Secretary, Yahayya Galadima Charanchi expressed gratitude to the Youth Participation in Progressive Development Initiative for organising the training.

According to Charanchi, the law that established the commission came into being since 2021 during the former governor of the State, Hon. Aminu Masari.

In the meantime, a consultant on Public Finance, Malam Dahiru Ahmad presented a paper during the workshop.
