Julius Ihonvbere to Co-chair Committee Investigating Petroleum Industry

Speaker House of Representatives Dr Abbas Tajuddeen has appointed the house majority leader Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, as co-Chairman to the joint Senate-House committee tasked to investigate alleged economic sabotage in the nation’s Petroleum industry.

Dr Abbas Tajuddeen, also appointed Alhaji Sada Soli Jibia, Mr Iduma Ighariwey, Mr Gboyega Isiaka, Hajiya Fatima Talba, Mr Tuni Raheem and Mr Patrick Umoh as members of the committee from the house of Repsentatives.

In a statement by the house spokesman Mr Rotimi Akin, confirmed that the importance of the matter required close collaboration between the Senate and the House of Representatives.

The statement maintained that the new structure aims to ensure synergy, a holistic approach to addressing the issues, and ease of administrative coordination, resulting in a harmonized and efficient exercise.

The Committee is expected to commence its duties immediately, with a clear mandate to ensure accountability and transparency in the sector.
