Katsina launches “Peace Architectures” Programme to boost women’s livelihoods

The Katsina State Government, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the West African Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP), has empowered women from 300 cooperative clusters in Kaita and Faskari Local Governments.

The programme, titled “Peace Architectures for Peacebuilding and Prevention in Strengthening Community Livelihood in Katsina State,” provided essential items to boost the economic capacity of the women and promote their self-reliance.

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda officially launched the distribution at the Multi-Purpose Women Center, Filin Samji, in Katsina metropolis.

 Governor Radda while addressing the audience on the importance of the programme stated, “These items are crucial for fostering economic independence and sustainable development for the women.”

The Katsina Governor commended the UNDP and WANNEP for their partnership, noting that the support arrived at a critical time for the state.

Commissioner for Women Affairs  Hajia Zainab Musa Musawa listed the provided items to include fertilizers, water pumps, rice processing and destoning machines.

 The rest are ploughing machines and grinding machine

Hajia Musawa explained that these items will enable the women contribute more significantly to their communities and drive sustainable development.

Earlier, Engineer Bello Lawal Yandaki, Chairman of the All Local Government Council Chairmen (ALGON), pledged the councils’ commitment to closely monitoring the situation and ensuring the items are used effectively for their intended purpose.

The Chief Press Secretary to Katsina State Governor,Ibrahim Mohammed confirmed the development in a statement.
