The Terrorists dressed in hijab, also known as abaya, attacked the Runka community in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State and abducted about 25 persons, primarily women and children.

The community is located near the notorious Rugu Forest, a long-time hideout for terrorists.

A source from the community who spoke to Channels TV said the attackers, armed with guns, invaded the area around 10pm on Saturday night, firing shots indiscriminately throughout the community.

The source said that there were no fatalities reported among the community members, except for one person who sustained injuries while attempting to flee and has since been hospitalised.

During the raid, the terrorists were shooting sporadically and systematically entered homes, forcefully taking residents and ransacking properties.

Disturbingly, one bandit was heard speaking on the phone to an unknown informant, remarking, “Today, we’ve come to your hometown.”

“There was no security personnel presence during the attack which lasted for hours until after the incident when an armored personnel carrier attached with some police personnel was deployed to patrol the area.

Meanwhile, till the time of filing this report, the police authorities in Katsina State have not issued a statement on the incident.
