Operatives of Katsina police command early Tuesday morning foiled kidnap attempts where ten victims were rescued.
A victim however died after his rescue and was being given medical attention.
The Command spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the incident on Tuesday afternoon.
According to him, the incident occurred around 2 a.m in Dutsinma Local Government Area of the state.
The police spokesman explained ” Today, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at about 2.00 a.m some suspected armed bandits, armed with dangerous weapons, attacked a compound situation behind comprehensive quarters in Dutsinma LGA, shot and injured one person and kidnapped about fourteen (14) occupants of the compound.
“Upon receipt of the report, the DPO Dutsinma promptly mobilised and led a team of operatives to the scene, where they engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun duel.
“The team succeeded in foiling the attack and rescued ten (10) kidnapped victims.
“The injured victim was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention where he was later confirmed dead while receiving medical attention.”
ASP Aliyu further revealed that the state Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa, has detailed a search and rescue team to the nearby bushes to ensure the unhurt rescue of the kidnapped victims and the arrest of the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
He added “Further development will be communicated in due course as the investigation proceeds.”
