A six- month old girl along with three women were rescued from bandits by operatives of Katsina police command on Eid- El-kabir day in Jibia local government area of Katsina state
The incident happened early Sunday morning at Kwata quarters of the council.
The command spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday evening.
He revealed “The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled a bandits’ attack on Kwata quarters in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State and rescued three (3) kidnapped women and a six-month-old baby.
” On 16 June, 2024 at about 4.15 a.m, a distress call was received at Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters that armed bandits in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons, attacked Area quarters, Jibia LGA and kidnapped three (3) women and a six-month-old baby.
” Upon receipt of the report, promptly the DPO Jibia mobilised and led a team of operatives to scene where they engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, foiling the kidnap attempt.
“During the rescue operation, the team successfully rescued all kidnapped women, including one with a six-month-old baby unhurt.
” Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects.”
The statement added that the state Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa commended the bravery and quick response of the officers .
The Police Commissioner also reportedly reiterated the commitment of the command towards protecting the lives and property of Katsina state residents.
