The Kebbi State Government, has Flagged off monthly sanitation exercise with a call on the public to take profound measures towards prevention against diseases and illnesses.
Governor Nasir Idris, who made the call while flagging off the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in the state capital, explained that his administration decided to reintroduce the monthly programme because of its peculiar importance to human health.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar, said clean environment and portable drinking water are necessary to the wellbeing of people to reduce airborne and waterborne diseases.
The Governor cautioned people not to expose themselves to dangers and hazards through dirtness and unclean surroundings saying illnesses are preventable if communities keep clean environment and drink clean water.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Musa Muhammad Tungulawa, said the Ministry has been mandated to pursue the environmental sanitation campaign and awareness that will be carried out on
last Saturday of every month.
The Commissioner emphasized that, the exercise would be strictly carried out in the state capital and all the local government areas of the state.
