The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will begin Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Edo and Ondo States to enable eligible citizens who are not registered voters to do so and transfer their registration from other states or locations within the two states.
INEC chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, said that the already registered voters should not attempt to register again to avoid double or multiple registrations, which he stressed, are illegal.
The CVR will be conducted at the Ward level and INEC State headquarters, from Monday 27th May 2024 to Wednesday 5th June 2024 from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm daily, including the weekend.
Professor Yakubu appealed to political parties and other stakeholders to mobilize prospective registrants for the exercise, urging them to register early and not wait until the deadline approaches.
He noted that uncollected Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) will be available for collection during the CVR.
INEC Chairman urged Party Leaders to adhere to the timeline for uploading the list of polling and collation agents to the dedicated portal for the Commission to produce and deliver identity cards in good time.
