The Katsina State commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Mu’azu Danmusa says roles played by journalists in promoting peace and development can not be quantified.
The Commissioner made the declaration during a two- day capacity building training for twenty selected journalsits on Reporting Transitional Justice and Peace Building.
It was organized by Center for Democratic Development (CDD).
Participants were drawn from electronic, print and social media handlers among others.
The Commissioner noted that, the work of journalists revolved arround informing, educating and entertaining the general public on major issues concerning the development of the society.
He appreciated the CDD efforts for organizing the training to equip journalists with skills on peace development in the state.
Speaking during the training, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Victims of Banditry and internally displaced persons, Saidu Danja, described the training as a welcome development as it will help journalists in reporting security related activities.
The Director, Information, Tukur Dan-Ali, in his remarks, thanked the CDD for organizing the training for journalists in the state, saying that, it will assist participants greatly in reporting transitional justice in their daily reportage.
The Manager, CDD Abuja Office, Kola Ogunbiyi, in his welcome address, said the training aimed at equipping participants with prerequisite knowledge on transitional justice in the state to bring peace among the society.
