Katsina state is to host North West peace and security summit.
The summit will be held in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme ( UNDP).
Although the exact dates of the summit are yet to be made public, Governor Dikko Radda has already given the go ahead for the programme.
The summit has as its theme “Security livelihood, Building Resilience and Promoting Peace and Security. Addressing the Nexus of banditry, Extremism and Climate change in North West Nigeria.”
A statement by the Director,Press in the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Yaardua confirmed the development.
The statement made public on Wednesday in katsina said government had already set up a joint Planning committee for the summit.
The committee, according to the statement, is under the chairmanship of the Secretary to the Government of the State, Abdullahi Faskari.
The 14- member planning committee also has the state head of civil service, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Commissioner for Information and culture as well as the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, among members.
The statement also showed that other members were Commissioner, lands and Physical planning, Commissioner, Special Duties, Commissioner, Women Affairs, the Special Adviser on Community Watch, the Director General, Protocol to the Governor, the Deputy Chief of Staff, office of the Deputy Governor and the Representative of the UNDP.
The statement added that the Director, Security, Governor’s Office is to serve as Secretary to the committee.
The statement explained that part of the terms of reference for the Committee were to, among others, liaise with the UNDP and other agencies to facilitate a seamless hosting of the summit; to determine and source for logistics needs of the summit; identify a befitting venue for the summit; invite guests and other stakeholders to the summit.
