Bandits on Monday night killed no fewer than six persons at Yar Nasarawa village, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina state.
Ten (10) other persons were also injured during the attack which took place few minutes before midnight.
Residents equally revealed that the bandits set ablaze three (3) houses and ten (10) motor vehicles even as they reportedly abducted yet – to be ascertained numbers of villagers.
It was learnt that the bandits stormed the village when the residents had already settled down for a night rest.
The Katsina police command spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the incident, insisting security operatives had already been drawn to the community to restore normalcy.
He said ” On 19, February 2024, at about 11.30 p.m, some suspected armed bandits in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, attacked Nasarawa village, Faskari LGA, where they shot and killed six (6) persons, injured about ten (10), and set ablaze three (3) houses and about ten (10) motor vehicles.
“The CP has since deployed the command’s tactical, operational and intelligence to the scene, combing the surrounding bushes for the possible arrest of the perpetrators for diligent prosecution.”
Residents however further revealed that bandits also attacked Ruwangodiya village in the same Local Government Area on Monday night where they rustled unspecified number of domestic animals.
A resident who pleaded for anonymity alleged “The hoodlums also attacked Ruwan Godiya village in the same Local Government Area and carried out their nefarious activities where residents are now counting their losses “.
