The Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, Alhaji Muntari Lawal, has tasked political actors and gladiators to accept the results of this weekend’s elections in good faith.
Alhaji Lawal gave the charge in an interaction with newsmen at Bajuwa, Mani Local Government Area, while monitoring the conduct of the governorship and state house of assembly elections.
He advised people to exercise restraint over any unfavourable result and go about their businesses without creating situation that would incite others violence or adverse reactions.
His words: “Elections are something that people should learn to accept in good faith; when you win, you win and when you lose, you lose. All this going to court, inciting people and provocations won’t help anybody. So, it’s high time we learnt from the past and start moving ahead.”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, who served as the Director General of the Katsina APC Campaign Councils in 2015 and 2019 respectively, also noted that the massive turn out of electorate on Saturday showed the degree of acceptance of democratic experience in the state and nation.
“We are on course to having very beautiful elections in this country. I think if we have an experience like two or three more times, things will be good for Nigeria,” he argued.
THE SGS explained: “Where I voted, believe me, between accreditation and voting didn’t take me more than three minutes. There was no problem as far as I am concerned but I don’t know about many places because in technology you cannot be 100 per cent sure of what is going to happen.”
On the chances of the ruling party at the poll, Alhaji Lawal assured that the APC candidates would emerge victorious across the state.
“I have not seen where Labour Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PPD) or whatever are doing anything extra-ordinary. On the other hand, the masses, the people, are voting for APC and I expect the APC to win the elections,” he declared.
