Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari, to look into the challenges posed by ongoing currency swap in the country.
The Royal father made the plea yesterday in his palace during a courtesy call on him by President Buhari and presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, shortly before the party’s mega rally at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.
Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, who commended the President for formally presenting the APC presidential flag bearer to him, the emirate council and people of the state, noted that “the pains of people should be the pains of the leadership.”
The traditional ruler also stressed the need for government to sustain its efforts and policies to support the masses and assured of his commitment to pray and mobilize for the success of the forthcoming elections.
Presenting Bola Tinubu to the monarch, President Buhari said his administration will continue to listen to wise counsel from experts, traditional rulers and political leaders on the economy while adopting best practices to safe guard the interest of the people.
The President praised the former Lagos State Governor and pledged his full support for the APC presidential candidate and implored the emir and the emirate council to mobilize support for the success of Tinubu.
“We are here to present our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. He has been chosen by our party and we are fully in support of his candidature and we will work for his victory at the poll,” he said.
Also speaking, Tinubu condoled with the families of victims of the rising death toll from Thursday’s vigilante groups and terrorists clash in Katsina community of Gamji, Kankara Local Government Area.
The APC presidential candidate, who donated N100m for the upkeep of the families of the victims and those affected by armed banditry in the state, assured that the party would not abandon the affected persons and families.
He urged the electorate in Katsina, North West Zone and other parts of the country to mobilize support and votes for all APC candidates to sustain good governance at all levels.
Earlier, the Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari, praised President Buhari and Bola Tinubu, saying the people of the state are fully in support of the Tinubu and will vote en masse in the presidential election.
According to him, the state and North West Zone had always been APC stronghold in all the previous elections just as the party had done well in the past seven and a half years of its governance.
Present at the Katsina mega rally later were President Buhari; the Speaker the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu; Governors of Katsina, Kebbi, Kaduna, Kano, Borno, Plateau and Lagos among others.
