By this resignation, I cease to be a member of APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council of Dikko/Jobe 2023 election organization and also resign as executive member of Jagaban/Shettima Northeast Ambassadors’
Musawa
The stakes are getting higher in 2023 general elections as more high profile personalities resign from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Katsina State.
The latest in the series of top notch politicians to join the list of defectors from the party is property development guru, Mamuda Lawal Musawa, former member of the National Advisory Council for the re – election of President Muhammadu Buhari and former council member for re – election of Governor Aminu Bello Masari in 2019.
Musawa, fondly known as Zamani, has resigned from the Katsina APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council and the party’s presidential candidate’s campaign platform, withdrawing his support for the party’s flag bearers in the 2023 February and March polls.
Also, he has dumped all appointments given to him by the State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, over lack of internal democracy in the ruling party.
Musawa, in his letter of resignation from APC effective from today, January 31, 2023, reminded the party of his extensive support over the years while decrying among others his truncated House of Representatives seat ambition.
In the January 11, 2023, letter addressed to the APC Chairman, Musawa Ward, the property development guru cum politician insisted that he could not continue to be a member of the party.
“Mr. Chairman, with my many years of active participation in politics and as former member, National Advisory Council for the re – election of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR; former council member for re – election of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, and two time House of Representatives aspirant in 2019 and 2023 elections, I have come to this conclusion for many reasons.
Chiefly, among which is not conducting primary election on the 27th May, 2022, for Musawa, Matazu Federal Constituency and the party went ahead and announce someone (as the winner) without following due process, for obvious reasons,” Musawa stated.
The irate erstwhile APC faithful however expressed gratitude to Governor Masari for the support and recognition accorded him while he was a member of the party.
Meanwhile, the rank of the PDP had swollen with three incumbent members of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the APC from Katsina State said to have joined the opposition party on Sunday.
The former APC law makers included Ahmad Dayyabu (Safana, Danmusa, Batsari Federal Constituency), Hamzat Dalhat (Rimi, Batagarawa, Charanchi Federal Constituency) and Salisu Iro (Katsina central Fed. Constituency).
