Nothing Unusual Traditional Ruler Supporting Sibling
Director General of Katsina State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council, Dr. Mustaspha Inuwa, has said there is nothing unusual in the reported claim that Katsina monarch would support his blood relation in this year’s gubernatorial race.
Speaking with Journalists at the campaign council Secretariat in Katsina shortly after the flag off of the PDP campaign train in Katsina Central Senatorial District in Jibiya town on Thursday, Dr. Inuwa noted that the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, didn’t ask the emirate to support a particular candidate or party but only made his preference for his sibling known.
The former Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS) urged the people of the state and Nigerians to demonstrate their goodwill and patriotism by praying and supporting the opposition party to emerge victorious in the forthcoming polls, saying the party’s chances in the February and March elections are very high.
He maintained that the Katsina monarch was neither a politician nor card carrying member of any political party, adding that it will be misnomer to say the traditional ruler had decreed that his sibling should be supported by everyone.
The PDP bigwig noted that the outcomes of elections were acts of God and no man could influence it otherwise.
According to him, the buzz going round the state was that people were rejecting the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates and chanting PDP slogans in several places in defiance of the party leaders’ request.
His words: “On overall, I must tell you that we are very, very happy with what we have seen so far. By God’s grace, it will continue to be so or more because from what is on ground, people are really tired, they really need PDP and they are for PDP.
“You see how people came out from their farms, in some instances, you find them praying and making positive and encouraging comments.
“So, we feel happy with what we have seen and, insha Allah, this will continue until the whole thing culminates in the victory of PDP.”
