Bigwigs of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State have called for concerted support for the party’s candidates in this year’s polls, saying their victory will breath fresh air into the state.
The immediate past National Secretary of the party, Sen. Umar Ibrahim Tsauri, and the Katsina PDP former chairman, Kabir Daudawa, among others, made the call at the party campaign rally in Kusada.
“Sen. Yakubu Lado is a man of honour and integrity who has told the state that his government, if elected, would deliver a lot of democratic dividends in like manner as then Governor Umar Musa Yar’adua administration in the state. We believe Katsina people are rest assured of his commitment,” Daudawa stated.
He added: “Your love towards PDP is unqualifiable, which means in February and March elections you will vote overwhelmingly for PDP because the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has done little or nothing about prevailing hardship, hunger and insecurity. Your turn out today shows you are going to deliver your votes to our party and our votes are safe.”
Sen. Tsauri, in his remarks, stressed that the five point agenda of PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, were tailored to address the current ugly developments in the state and country.
The PDP chieftain, who lamented that he had abandoned his farm for over four years due to insecurity and skyrocketing price of fertilizer, assured that Atiku and Lado, when elected, would make fertilizer and other farm inputs readily available at subsidized rates.
“Atiku and Lado will make free medical services available for pregnant women in all government hospitals across the country and students who could not get secondary school certificates due to lack SSCE fees, PDP government will make the exams free of charge.
“Also, students will not remain in tertiary institutions longer than necessary due to strikes because PDP leadership under Atiku will meet demands of lecturers and others without hesitation. PDP government will restore the lost glory of education and empower many graduates to be employers of labour.
“With Lado as your governor, he will make sure he gives local Government autonomy and people will not die for a bag of imported rice again because our borders will be opened considering Atiku’s experienced as a retired Customs officer,” said Tsauri.
